Looking for art gift ideas that won’t end up in a closet by January? The best creative gifts give people a reason to make something, not just more stuff. Here are our favorite ideas for young artists, teens and grown ups, plus an easy last minute option.
Art Gifts for Kids (Ages 5 to 12)
A monthly art subscription box
A gift that arrives again and again. The Art Club Monthly Kids Box delivers a stretched canvas, washable paints, kid-safe brushes and an art history pamphlet every month, each one inspired by a famous masterpiece. Instead of a tutorial, kids get a creative prompt, so every painting is their own.
A dedicated art corner
A small table, a washable mat and a place to display finished pieces tells a child their art matters. Pair it with a subscription and they will have something new to hang every month.
A museum visit
Plan a trip to see a painting from their art box in person. Our December box is inspired by Seurat’s A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, which hangs at the Art Institute of Chicago.
Art Gifts for Teens
Teens are ready for real materials. The Teens & Adults Box includes professional oil paints and a specialty medium, and the open ended prompts leave room for their own style. Add a sketchbook for planning ideas, and they have a complete creative routine.
Art Gifts for Adults
For the friend who “used to paint” or always wanted to try, a monthly box removes every excuse. Each month brings a new masterpiece to explore, from Dalí to Klimt to Seurat, with an art history deep dive in every box. It is a thoughtful gift for parents, grandparents, teachers and anyone who could use a creative hour to themselves.
