Our November 2026 masterpiece is one of the most recognized paintings in the world: The Kiss by Gustav Klimt. Shimmering with gold, packed with patterns and full of warmth, it is the perfect painting to explore as the holidays approach and we think about the people we love.
Order by Thursday, October 15 to receive the November box. Orders placed after the 15th start with the December box.
About the Masterpiece
The Kiss was painted in Vienna in 1907 and 1908, at the height of Klimt’s Golden Period. Klimt combined oil paint with real gold leaf, wrapping two figures in a glowing cloak covered in rectangles, spirals, circles and flowers. The square canvas measures about 180 by 180 centimeters, and the Austrian government bought it in 1908, the same year it was first exhibited. Today it is the star of the Belvedere museum in Vienna.
Look closely and you will notice the contrast Klimt built into the painting. Faces and hands are soft and realistic, while the clothing is flat, decorative and almost like a mosaic. That mix of realism and pattern is what makes the painting feel both romantic and modern.
